The Alabama Filmmakers Co-op presents an interview with Independent Movie Director John Sayles. This Master Class event will happen on Friday, February 8th at 1pm in the new Theater at the Flying Monkey Arts Center in the Lowe Mill. This event will be free and open to the public. Arrangements have been made to bring students from many area schools and these students and select guests will have reserved seating. All other seats will be open on a first come, first served basis. Seating is limited so please arrive early, doors will open at 12:30pm. Please check back here or at www.flyingmonkeyarts.org for any late updates up to and including the day of the event. John Sayles and Production Partner Maggie Renzi are visiting Huntsville as part of an Alabama Tour to promote and discuss their new film "Honeydripper" starring Danny Glover. Sayles, who wrote and directed, filmed the newly-released movie in Greenville, Alabama. The film is set in 1950 Alabama and based on a short story that Sayles wrote. Sayles has made 17 feature films and is an multiple award-winning and Oscar nominated filmmaker. Renzi is also an award-winning filmmaker and has partnered with Sayles on many of his films. Director Sayles and Producer Renzi will attend the Huntsville premiere of "Honeydripper" on Feb. 8 at Hollywood 18 Theater in Huntsville. The official Alabama Premiere is at 7pm and attendees will be invited to attend a reception immediately following at the Flying Monkey Arts Center. The reception will feature music by Huntsville Blues legend Microwave Dave and the Nukes with special guests expected to include Eddie Shaw and Henderson Hudson, two Blues musicians featured in the movie. Huntsville-native and filmmaker Kathleen Broyles who provided location casting for the film and Huntsville-based actor Danny Vinson who portrays a local judge in the movie are planning to attend. Tickets for the premiere and reception are $20. "Honeydripper" will be released state wide on February 8th with multiple showings in area theaters, but there will be only one official premiere/reception with John Sayles and other guests in attendance - Friday February 8th, 7pm showing at Hollywood 18 with tickets for $20 each available at www.honeydripperhuntsville.com.
